Black Husky Milwaukee Beer Week Events: 4/25-4/29
It's our first craft beer week as an official Milwaukee brewery! Here's what we're up to:
Tuesday, 4/25 – Old School Double IPA Release
Tim has been hard at work crafting a double IPA featuring some “old school” hops. Its malt-forward body props up two stalwart dual-purpose IPA hops- Simcoe and Centennial. Introduced in 2000 and 1990 respectively, these hops are as hard-working as a team of dogs pulling a sled packed with citrus and pine.
Wednesday, 4/26 – Beer & 'Tos Pairing
This ain't no fancy beer pairing. But it is a beer pairing. We're a little tired of beers being paired with bourgeoisie small plates. We love a good bisque as much as the next guy but let's be honest: when you get home from a hard day's work, kick off your shoes, and crash on the couch, what do you really crave? That's right - snacks and beer. So we're pulling out all the stops, kicking off our shoes, and pairing our blue collar beers with the ultimate in blue collar snacks. The only rule? Snacks gotta end in 'Tos. So expect Doritos, Tostitos, & Fritos in all shapes, sizes, and flavors. And we promise that if you find one shaped like a celebrity and sell it on eBay, you get to keep your cash. So get your munchies on and help us celebrate the return of flip-flop weather with some salty snacks!
Thursday, 4/27 – Sparkly Eyes 2016 Tapping
The legend returns. If you missed out on Sparkly Fest last Fall, then you missed your chance to have Sparkly Eyes fresh out of the fermenters. But fear not - we stashed a few kegs in the back of our cellar and resisted their Sparkly Eyes technique for several months. Some call it “Super Sproose," some call it “BarleyPine.” One thing's for certain - as a beer that is built to get you through Winter, it's equally well-equipped to help you celebrate the arrival of Spring.
Friday, 4/28 – Birthday Beer Tapping
Just so happens we brewed a batch of Three Scrutineers Tripel on Katie's birthday. To celebrate, Tim put a bunch of that “birthday beer” into a freshly-emptied Cabernet barrel. Now, it's time to taste it. Bring your wine-loving friends- this is a beer that everyone will love!
Saturday, 4/29 – Double Dry-hopped ???????? & Broken-Up Band Bazaar
First, the beer: it'll be a double dry-hopped surprise! And if you had a chance to try DDH Vain this week, then you know it will be juicy, delicious, and satisfying. More details sometime... maybe.
Second, it's the first ever Milwaukee Record Broken-Up Band Bazaar, benefiting Arte Para Todos! We're turning the brewery over to Milwaukee musicians of yore. This is their chance to unload music and merch that's been piled up in garages and apartments, and it's your chance to re-connect with local bands you miss. Most importantly, the bazaar benefits Arte Para Todos, with all monies raised going directly to arts programs in Milwaukee Public Schools. The first 50 Arte pass-holders will get a 12-oz pour on us, so check out the event here: http://milwaukeerecord.com/music/come-first-broken-band-bazaar-benefit-arte-para-todos/

Inaugural Broken Up Band Bazaar Benefit for Arte Para Todos
Inaugural Broken Up Band Bazaar Benefit for Arte Para Todos
In its first two years, Arte Para Todos raised approximately $40,000 for Milwaukee Public School art programs through the combined efforts of hundreds of musicians and visual artists bringing their talents to dozens of local bars, venues, and galleries in four Milwaukee neighborhoods. Thankfully, the city’s most eclectic and ambitious benefit is returning for a third year (April 27-29) with oodles of entertainment scattered throughout Walker’s Point, Bay View, and Riverwest.
Last year’s festivities raised close to $18,000. Organizers are hoping to bring in even more this year through additional fundraising efforts, including one event created and presented by Milwaukee Record's Tyler Maas. On Saturday, April 29, Milwaukee Record‘s inaugural Broken Up Band Bazaar will take place at Black Husky Brewing in Riverwest. From 4-7 p.m., Arte attendees and other local music aficionados can browse a brewery marketplace packed with booths selling records, shirts, stickers, buttons, and other goodies from broken up bands, inactive rappers, and now-defunct labels…or active labels trying to get rid of stock from extinct bands. Each vendor will donate a portion of their proceeds to Arte Para Todos.
The Broken Up Band Bazaar is free to both vendors and prospective customers. If you never got around to picking up that Wildbirds record, if that Temper Temper shirt doesn’t fit as well as it used to, or you have tons of CDs collecting dust in your basement, this is the event for you. Get some hard-to-find merch from Milwaukee music past on the cheap or unload some stuff you thought couldn’t be sold. No matter what side of the table you’re on, you can feel good knowing you’re benefiting Arte Para Todos.
The first 50 people who pick up (or purchase) their Saturday pass for Arte at Black Husky will get a complimentary 12-ounce beer from the brewery. Get your pass here: http://arteparatodos.me/arte-para-todos-events.php#APT2017-Purchase-Tickets
Note for vendors: There are still some vendor spots available. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to apply. Again, there is NO booth fee, but participants must agree to donate a percentage of their sales to Arte Para Todos.
Apr 30 from 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM

Let’s consider this an “un-race” as it goes against many principles of those fancy 5k races you may be familiar with. This is not timed and you will not get a medal when you finish (aside from the first male and female to finish who receive the Golden Growler). What you will get is an excuse to enjoy the great Wisconsin outdoors, FREE beer and swag, and the wonderful feeling that you are supporting our local community. Remember: a portion of all proceeds go to benefit WI non-profits. Check our website to see who we support and why: www.breweryrunningseries.com!
Some more important things to note:
This will be an OPEN course, meaning roads will not be closed. You are responsible for obeying all traffic laws and regulations.
You must bring a valid ID or driver’s license. You do not need to be 21 to enjoy the course, but you must be 21 to enjoy the beer. Please drink responsibly.
We run rain or shine! Please dress appropriately for the weather.
There will not be a bag check; please plan accordingly.
The fun-run starts at 10AM sharp! Plan to arrive about 30 minutes prior to check-in to check out our partners, sponsors and pre-race activities. Don’t forget some extra $$$. In addition to your FREE beer, there will be merchandise for sale from the Brewery, food trucks, and plenty more beer!
There is public parking on the streets nearby. We always encourage carpooling and safe, designated drivers.
Cheers to beer!
